Disruptive Classroom Contexts – Talking about Teaching (2016/17)

Dr David Morning focuses on practical and strategic interventions for managing and minimising the effect of incivility or disruption in the classroom. Interventions including civility contracts and Value Adding Teachers (VAT), resulted from David’s research with students and lecturers at Northumbria University.

David’s research identified that colleagues are empowered in responding to incivility by placing disruptive or uncivil behaviour in context. Other findings demonstrated the importance of promoting collegiality, collaboration and real power sharing between staff and students in minimising opportunities for uncivil behaviour to occur.
